FAQ

Q?

I want to become a member but am not sure which category to choose.

A.

Our one general category and three practitioner level categories of membership: Associate-Practitioner, Member and CSP, are all explained here.

Apply for the membership category that you now qualify for.  You can always upgrade your category later as you qualify.  It is better to join now as an Associate and upgrade to CSP later than not join at all while waiting for your qualifications.   If you have any questions just call us.

Q?

How do I become a member?

A.

Simply download our application form from here and follow the instructions and complete the section(s) relevant to you.

If you still need help, contact us.

Q?

How can I be included on website’s practitioner listing?

A.

We provide a website tool that makes it easy for the population to find a properly qualified SCENAR therapist close to them. Only therapists that are practitioner members of this Association (whatever their membership category) can be listed.

The administration of this website has been given to this Association. Once you have become a practitioner member you will need to complete and submit our listing form.

Q?

I am a practitioner member. What level of professional indemnity insurance cover do I need?

A.

Associate-practitioners will need to hold a minimum of $1M professional indemnity cover.

Member-practitioners will need to hold a minimum of $2M professional indemnity cover.

Associate-practitioners will need to hold a minimum of $5M professional indemnity cover.

For more information about insurance requirement visit here, or contact the office.

Q?

I already have adequate professional indemnity insurance. What changes do I need to arrange?

A.

  1. You will need to advise your insurer that you are a SCENAR Therapist (and provide proof of your STAA membership, such as your membership number) and that you use a SCENAR® device. The insurance company will endorse your policy to include this.
  2. We have developed a relationship with several insurance brokers and have secured cheap premiums with them for our members. You may like to compare these premiums and policy benefits with your current provider.

Q?

How do we measure experience as a SCENAR Therapist? Is it exactly 2 years?

A.

Two years after the completion of Level 2 SCENAR training is our guide. However we understand that a therapist who has been treating say 7 patients a day every day for, say, 18 months may have more experience than the therapist that has been treating 10 people a week for two years.  Again, we're looking for evidence. Please give us your details.

Q?

What are STAA’s Anatomy & Physiology requirements for the practitioner membership levels?

A.

  1. We recognise that effective use of SCENAR® in therapy is not dependent on the therapist's knowledge of human Anatomy and Physiology. Even so, fundamental knowledge of the modern understanding of how the body is made up and how its systems function set the context of our work. Also when considering the legislative and professional environment within which we work, a minimum basic understanding of Anatomy & Physiology provides an element of credence to SCENAR® in therapy.
  2. Those applying for membership who are already in a health profession (such as Medical Practitioner, Physiotherapist, Remedial Massage therapist, Naturopath, Chiropractor, RN, etc.) will, in most cases, already comply with our Anatomy & Physiology requirements. If you are not sure where you stand, please contact us with your specific details.
  3. If you have no Anatomy & Physiology qualifications, then we're looking for evidence of learning at Certificate 4 level. This will usually involve study of about 100 hrs. You have several options available to you from units offered by Universities and other learning institutions as part of a health science curriculum, through to distance learning. Please contact us for more information.
